Established in July 1991, Coeur du Bois Chapter, a non-profit corporation affiliated with Romance Writers of America, seeks to provide on-going support and instruction for its member writers. The chapter meets monthly for workshops, dissemination of publisher and market updates, sharing of member news and information from the national organization, and more.

The chapter encourages and fosters the formation of critique and brainstorming groups to offer more in-depth assistance to members. A monthly newsletter, Heart of Romance, provides information regarding chapter news and member activities, as well as articles of interest to members.

The chapter hosts mini-conferences at varying times during the year. Past speakers have included literary agents and best-selling authors.
